Rajkot: A man ended it all in the wake of losing Rs 78 lakh while playing an online poker game in Gujarat’s Rajkot region, the police said on Sunday.
Krunal Mehta, 39, hopped into a well in the region’s Mota Mava region late Wednesday night. His body was discovered skimming in the well the following morning, a police official said.
“Our test has uncovered that he made the outrageous stride as he lost Rs 78 lakh while playing a poker game on his cell phone,” the cop said.
“We have recouped a self destruction note from his home in which he purportedly expressed that he obtained Rs 78 lakh from his companions and family members to play ‘PokerBaazi’,” he said.
Krunal Mehta worked in an IT organization and would frequently get cash to play poker in which he lost huge totals consistently, the cop said.
“He had shared his financial balance subtleties on the portable gaming application. After Mehta’s passing, his sibling got an email with bank exchange subtleties. This offered a reprieve up of the cash that was deducted as he approached losing a few games in progression,” police said.
The police’s digital cell is additionally exploring the case.
