AIR announcers tweet seeking pay earns her a ban

NEW DELHI: A public attraction for fee of arrears by an informal announcer at AIR’s Shimla station earned her a everlasting “ban” from the Akashvani service and a grievance on the native police station for threatening suicide and inciting others to observe go well with.
Rama Thakur, an informal announcer for 15 years at All India Radio (AIR), Shimla, had on May 6 tweeted tagging the PM, Union ministers Prakash Javadekar and Nirmala Sitharaman, and Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Vempati. In her tweet, Thakur requested if any authorities division was paying salaries of 1 or two months after preserving wages pending for six months. She cited excessive monetary hardships. She additionally stated informal staff can be pushed to suicide for which the federal government can be accountable.

Everybody has a proper to air grievances for non-payment of dues. Filing an FIR to cow down the person is abuse of energy and a crass show of intolerance. Such acts of intimidation should be discouraged and acted towards.

“The irregularity in payment began in 2017 and became particularly erratic after 2019. We appealed to our seniors but when that did not work, I aired our grievances on Twitter,” Thakur instructed TOI over telephone. Her programming head Umesh Kashyap instructed TOI he had discharged orders from Delhi.
An official who didn’t wish to be recognized admitted funds to informal announcers have been erratic, including, “Who can run their homes with Rs 2,600 per month? This is a job they do as a hobby.”
The official stated Thakur’s companies have been per manently discontinued. AIR Casual Announcers and Comperes Union has written to Vempati in protest.
