BENGALURU: Defence minister Rajnath Singh, who delivered the keynote deal with on the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) conclave organised as a part of Aero India 2021, reiterated that India was prepared to provide weapons to nations within the area.
Singh stated as the biggest nation in IOR – with an unlimited shoreline of seven,500km – India has an energetic function to play for peaceable and affluent co-existence of all nations. “Indian Ocean is a shared asset and a lifeline for international trade and transport due to its control of major sea lanes carrying half of the world’s container ships, one-third of its bulk cargo traffic and two-third of its oil shipments,” he stated.
The defence minister added that the conclave is reflective of the significance India attaches to the imaginative and prescient of widespread development and stability, and constructive engagements with companion nations. He stated efforts are on to synergise assets in IOR, together with defence industrial cooperation.
“Many IOR countries are becoming globally competitive and developing new technologies, including defence shipyards for design and shipbuilding, which can be jointly harnessed through regional cooperation efforts,” he stated, including that the Indian aerospace and defence industries current a horny alternative for overseas firms and the nation was prepared to provide various kinds of missile techniques, helicopters, warships, patrol vessels, weapons, tanks and radars.
